We arrived in Rosario in the early evening and were excited to have the option of using the kitchen to cook ourselves dinner. We walked to the grocery store to grab some food and a grabbed a couple of beers that I hadn't tried before. We got back to the hostel and headed straight to the kitchen where I started making spuds and frying up a steak to enjoy with my beer. Whilst cooking I cracked open one of the bottles and was devastated to find that the reason I hadn't seen the beers in any of the restaurants and bars so far is because it was a non-alcoholic beer. The most annoying thing was it was more expensive than the tried and tested Quilmes I had been drinking up until this misguided experiment. After dinner we used the computer for a short while before heading to bed relatively early as we had little else to do. The following day we got up and had breakfast before heading down to the port where we understood from the guide book you could catch a short boat ride over to an island where locals laze on the beach and sample the offerings from the numerous eateries and bars on the beach. Unfortunately for us the guide book neglected to tell us the shuttle service only operated on the weekends. With our main reason for coming to Rosario now unattainable we instead wandered the streets of the city and spent some time at the monument built in honour of the man who designed the national flag or Argentina. It was a really impressive monument which had lots of school children and workers enjoying their lunch break there. We headed back to the grocery store and bought food for a late lunch a dinner. No such mistake was made again with the non alcoholic beer this time either. We spent the whole of the afternoon being quite lazy in the hostel and after having a late dinner we watched a film before going to bed. The following day we headed off to the bus station around lunch time where I grabbed an empanada for lunch before heading off on the journey to Parana.
