Left cairns again early in the morning for cape trib aboard our jungle bus. First stop on the way up was the rainforest habitat wildlife sanctuary at Port Douglas, seen alot more Aussie native animals including the tree roo's, lots more Koalas, alot of birds, ducks, croc's, ostriches, more roo's and wallabies.
Further up the coast we headed inland to Mossman Gorge and took a short trek up through the rainforest, as usual keeping a look out for any snakes, lizards or wild pigs that fancy a snack. Gorge was just like Eli creek on Fraser but on a much larger scale and was a welcomed cool swim/float around from the increasing heat as we headed north.
We crossed the Daintree river with the help of the ferry and headed on through the national park, oldest in the world aparently. Stopped off at alexandra lookout for another break and again at a homemade ice-cream place in the middle of the rainforest for a feed of strange tasting ice-cream.
Eventually made it to Cape Tribulation alright where the sealed roads stopped, a short distance further took us to our beach huts for the night. A wander down the beach and through the rainforest took us to a shop and restaurant where we spend the evening. Unluckily for us there was no taxis nor did we have any way back, apart from walking through the forest again especially with no moon light for a little help. Eventually made it back with the help of a french couple in their ropey campervan.
Next morning we took a trip into the jungle to try out a bit of rainforest 'surfing' with the aid of a few trees, zip lines and a harness. Was good craic with our local tour gides while we got up to 23metres off the ground on some of the lines getting pretty impressive views across the forest and out to the reef across cape trib.
