hey guys i am in cambodia!
after a day or two in ko chang thinking were to i ended up following alex and bjorn to cambodia! we have had a great tine after a few problems on the journey with a little scam*bodia* coming over the border! we stayied in siem reap for a few night and visited the anker wat temples. the temples were good and our tuk tuk driver between them was a cool guy even eating rice with us later on. the most impressive temples were bayon *with the faces on the towers*, anker wat and thom phen which was being slowly destroyed by winding trees between its walls pretty cool. at the end of the day we walked up the hill to a monument were you could see the main anker wat temple and the surrounding area and a cloudy sunset*ish*. i dont know how to do brackets here!
we then caught the bus down to phnom penh the capital city, staying in a place overlooking the lake.today we visited the killing fields and a prison that pol pot and followers of the khmer rouge regime, tortured and killed a quater of the population in the 70s. the fields were the mass graves were found were really strange, eerie but quite peaceful with trees and a lake surrounding the area. when we went to the prison and heard the whole story of what had happened, we were shocked how they trained 10 to 15 yr olds to torture and kill innocent people and how the prisoners were kept in before their death was upsetting. i couldent believe that i had not heard as much about this story before i came to cambodia as the story was as disturbing as the concentration camps in the second world war.
i need to stay in phnoem penh until at least tuesday as i have to wait for my loas visa to come through before i go north! will probably go to the market tommorrow and maybe walk along the river. watching the footy tongiht with bjorn adn alex so should be a laugh
speak soon love joe x
