BaliI had to travel a very annoying route from Kuala Lumpur to get here but I actually saved around 60 quid in doing it so it weren't bad basically I flew to Jakarta and stopped there for about 2 hours and had some dinner I then had to board another flight to Denpasar in Bali about 8pm. Fiona (whom I knew from home she used to come to Daniel galvin and was staying with) arranged for a taxi to pick me up from the airport and take me to their place.I arrived around 11pm and the cab took a little detour to a Japanese restaurant where I met up with Fiona and Pete (Fiona's husband) we stayed there and had a couple of drinks and had a chat…Fiona said I would love Bali and should spend it with Pete's son jack (I haven't met jack before but had met Fiona's girls) she reckoned we would get on and he would show me the sights. We arrived home at around 1am and Fiona prepared a room for me in there villa I was staying in there 7 year old daughters room it's was great! Best accommodation since Koh Samui back in December! Their place at the moment was one they were renting while they were having one built but it was still lovely it had a massive garden with a big swimming pool. Anyway I was shattered after a long day of travelling so was off to bed about half 1…I didn't have a clue what I'll be doing from then on as I'd read nothing about Bali, but I'd just wake up and meet jack!I woke up around 10 and the staff there had made me breakfast (Fiona and Pete have got a guard, 2 nannies and a cook/cleaner) I sat down and that's when I met jack… me and jack got on straight away he reminded me so much of Ollie! He said he would look after while i'm here as he doesn't work full time and knows where to go and what to do (jack performs every Friday in a club MCing, he is also trying to start up his own clothing label). The first thing we did is go and eat Indonesian food! (Being here a year jack knew all the best restaurants) The same night I arrived jack's friend Sam arrived as well, so we were going to meet up with him and his girlfriend Harriet and her friend Mimi (they both live in Bali too Mimi and jack are really close friends). We met them in a bar at the far end off double 6 beach Ku De Tah (a very nice bar) after that jack, Sam and I went to the beach to chill out until it started raining. The best way to get around Bali considering we were living around 15 minutes from the main areas was by moped so jack took me to his friends café to hire a moped for the week. Jack's friends café is called home café….It is run by Luigi (really nice bloke from Italy who has been travelling the world a bit, he is a chef by trade but now owns his own business with his fiancé Bianca and Bianca's sister Nina) Nina and Bianca are half Indonesian really nice girls they all really looked after in my time in Bali. Luigi knows practically everyone in Bali so he organised me a little moped for the week at the cost of a massive 5 quid! After chilling in the café for a bit me and jack went back to Sam's hotel for a bit to go for a swim and drink cocktails already I am loving Bali life! I was no longer a tourist and backpacker I was feeling what it was like to live in Asia! That night we went for dinner with Sam and Harriet. We just had a chilled night as we were planning a big weekend ahead with Sam's birthday on Saturday night.Thursday came and already it felt great to have home comforts I woke up feeling like I could live here and I'd only been here a day! Me and jack drove round for a bit I was getting used to my moped and Jack wanted to show me around. For most of the day we just chilled in home café with Luigi. We were planning for the night ahead as Luigi was hosting a night in a club on the double 6 beach. Me and jack were already getting on great it felt like I had known him for years. It was great to finally have a friend! After months of being away it felt like I was at home again, if that makes any sense?Me and jack bought a couple of DVD's to watch (we were chilling out before going out as Bali doesn't get busy till late) and then we went to a little satay stool and got dinner for about a quid which was amazing! We went out about a midnight, jack drove as I didn't feel too comfortable driving in the pissing rain and it also meant I could have my first drink in Bali! We got to the club Baccio about midnight and Luigi was already well on his way to being drunk, the drink was flowing there were bottles of jack Daniel's everywhere so they were trying to turn me into a whisky drinker! By the end of my stay in Bali they had! We stayed until about 2 and then jack wanted to show me Umbargo which was the touristy club in Kuta. It was quite a nice place we were looked after again walked into the v.i.p to meet his girlfriend and then stayed there for about 2 hours jack seemed to know everyone from dancers to randoms to DJs. I could defiantly get used to the life…The 'Good Life'Friday came and finally I can do some exercise jack had decided to join the gym! Me Jack and Luigi practically went everyday after that and between us we were jack's trainer! It was good fun training with the 2 of them we had a laugh and hopefully by the time I return Luigi has got jack into some serious shape! That night jack was performing at syndicate it was also the night we were going to celebrate Sam's birthday I could feel a big night! The only problem with Bali so far were the storm's this was the first place I'd been and it was rainy season but It didn't matter I could still live here! Me and jack went to Home café first for a few drinks with Luigi and co before the big night… we went to syndicate about 11 and again it was free jack Daniels I had a few and then seeing as it was Sams birthday we got on the shots! After a few I agreed to do a bungee jump with Sam in the club next done that has a 45 meter bungee into a pool. (It was his birthday after all, and this was part of my attempt to get over my fear of heights, I'd done a lot since being away but this would top it) We waited till jack finished his set and by that time I was stone cold sober the nerves were getting to me. It was 4am and Sam was hammered I said we shot do it in our boxers! It cost me 500,000 rupee around 25 quid to do. So here we were in a tiny lift going 45 meters up at 4 am in our boxers, I wanted to do this I really did, but I was so so so scared! In the lift were 3 other people from France they had been bungee jumping for years and they said this was a great jump. I wanted to go first to get it out the way so we sat down on the side and got strapped up; we were doing a tandem jump. It took about 10mins to get ready we walked to the edge the wind was blowing and then I looked down….big mistake I froze I couldn't do it; it was too high I hate heights!!! The pool looked about the size of a sink, I had one hand holding Sam's harness and one firmly on the rail I just couldn't move I wanted to do it, I had no fear of getting hurt just fear of the height. I was trying to force myself but my body wasn't letting me. I said we should let the French go first! We got untied watched them jump and it looked easy, I knew it looked easy but I just couldn't do it! After they jump 2 more blokes come up from South Africa, again they had done it before. I wanted one more go with Sam to see if I could to I had psyched myself up for it, I had climbed 45meters so I would try one more time! We again got strapped in, I kept my eyes closed the whole time imaging I had to do this jump to save myself (or some s*** like that) I got up eye's closed walked to the edge and then the wind hit me. I froze yet again my grip was so strong I wasn't budging I tried again I was standing there for 10mins but I still couldn't do it. I was gutted so upset with myself but at least I tried I climbed the 45 meters I stood on the edge twice but I just couldn't jump! I watched a very drunk Sam do it himself, I went down in the lift an hour after I got up in my boxers disappointed!! When I spoke to Sam when I got down he said he'd never seen anyone go so white! He could feel me shaking, oh well I tried 5am time for bed! We woke up quite early on Saturday considering I went to bed a little before 6am. We had a really chilled out day again and spent the night in home café. Sunday was going to be a good day out as Luigi and co had the day off. I spent the evening cutting Luigi's hair and eating pizza! In home café I was again piled with free drink this time chivas! I'm finally starting to like whisky. We actually got pretty drunk as Luigi thought it was a good idea to drink flaming sambucas every half hour. We head off to unbargo for one before going home for our big day of chillaxing and watching the carling cup final!!!Sunday arrives and we hire a car to drive to the beach we go quite early and take the dogs (jack and Luigi both have Rottweilers, really nice puppies) the beach is about half hour away and we spent the afternoon playing baseball with a couple of the boys I now know that live in Bali (James and Dmitri). They was great apart from some French woman non top moaning that our dog's were loaded machine guns…what b******s they were harmless! We stayed till about 5 and then headed for jimbaran! Jimbaran was another beach where you could watch the sunset and supposedly have the best sea food in Bali; the beach was lined with seafood restaurants. Luigi being the chef picks the best fish for us all. There are about 8 of us having dinner. We ordered 3kg of king prawns, 3kg of clams, 2 squids, one massive red snapper, vegetables and rice. They weren't lying this was probably the best seafood ever! The best thing was the bill I couldn't believe it… it cost 93'000 rupee each just under a 5er!! Cheaper than a big Mac and probably the best seafood I'd ever had.We went home about half 8 and that night was the night of the cup final so I went to find a bar about 10 where they were showing it. I sat there by myself while jack went to his girlfriends and watched the spurs win….probably the best day of my life!! As I was leaving I noticed that sitting behind me the whole match was frank Lebouef! I got home about half 2 in absolute heaven on the phone to everyone I knew. This was the first time I was missing home in a while but only because I wanted to be at Wembley! But I look back now and Bali was probably the only other place I would have liked to been! On Monday we were planning to go the volcano but a few people pulled so me and jack postponed it for a later date…it was a great excuse to return…for Monday and Tuesday I had been looking for an investment in Bali I fell in love with the place it was paradise the first place in Asia I could live…'the good life' as Luigi would say. I really can't remember doing much actually looking back now but I lived there and it brought a smile to my face. At night Fiona and Pete took jack and me out to dinner we went to their favourite Japanese restaurant and the food was amazing! And so cheap! That's it I'm going to live in Bali!!! Wednesday was my last full day in Bali and I was so upset. Me and jack got up early and took the dogs for a run on the beach with Luigi. Luigi took the morning off and we went for lunch in a little indo place (I hadn't eaten one bad thing since coming here) we spent the day looking at properties, going shopping and then went home café again before meeting up with Sam, Harriet and Mimi for drinks. I'm really going to miss everyone I'd met it felt as though I was leaving home again! We stayed playing pool and stuff till quite late but I had to get home and pack as I was going Sydney the next day…I didn't know if I was happy or sad!?The next morning I done all the stuff I had to do buy my DVD's watches etc. and said my goodbyes. Jack comes to the airport with me and I had made a great friend. Well I'd made a few great friends in Bali and I was already planning my return. I'm really going to miss my home of a week; I had defiantly fallen in love with the place. Fiona and Pete were fantastic hosts and they said they would welcome me back anytime and I'm sure I would take them up on that offer. So here I was sitting at Denpasar airport drinking coffee with jack, bags packed ready for Sydney! Well not ready but I was going there anyway.I boarded my flight for Jakarta at 1pm (I had to fly back to Bangkok to go to Sydney another pain in the arse) and I felt sad to be leaving Asia already everything had gone so quick I cant believe I've been away 3 months. I was off to Sydney now for a working life and getting back to reality but I knew this wasn't the last of Bali. I will write again soon about my first week in reality!
