A WOW morning but just an OK afternoon at Chobe National Park in Kasane Botswana.
At 10 AM we went on a floating photo safari. Boat had 8 $5000 camera systems. Everyone had his/her own camera. Guide showed us how to zoom, focus and shoot. We could see flies on a buffalo, the eyeball of a bird, and insects on a croc.
We saw more elephants. This time they were crossing the Chobe River single file and frolicking with each other. They were having fun.
We got so close to a hippo in the water that I was worried. He gave us the evil eye and the boat captain gunned the motor so we left quickly. Also got real close to Cape buffalos, crocodiles, impalas, and bunches of birds.
The PM trip was not as successful. Nine of us were loaded into the Range Rover and headed into the bush looking for lions. We found a few but they were so far off it shouldn’t count.
On the plus side we were surrounded by a herd of baboons. One blocked the road as if he were a cop and we were trespassing. Also saw impalas, wild dogs, and more hippos and birds.
Tomorrow we take a boat to a floating restaurant and depart for our next stop.
