Saturday Katherine Northern Territory No problems this time crossing the state border it seems to be Western Australia who are paranoid about people bringing pests and diseases in to their state. It was a long drive with mainly flat scenery with occasional spectacular mountain ranges but 2 happenings helped to liven it up.We travelled along quite a long stretch of road with fires burning right up to the road edge with flames 3-4 feet high.We presumed it was controlled burning but we didn't see any one attending to it and it was a bit scary.Later going the opposite way to us on the highway we saw a modern day camel train with six camels and three handlers. Both handlers and camels looked very smart with the camels carrying identical loads. No idea what that was about but we got a nice cheery wave from the handlers, the camels just ignored us.It was another of those occasions when the camera was in the boot of the car.We chose the caravan site we are on especially because through a gate and a 5 minute walk down a lane is a thermal pool. From the first time we came to Aus. in 1992 I have wanted to swim in a rock pool and we have seen quite a lot but they have either been too much of a climb down to them or if I have been able to get to them I might of got in the water but I certainly wouldn't have got out again over the rocks but this one is an easy walk and it has steps into it.Okay it is cheating a bit but I will settle for that and can cross one wish of my things to do list. This is a great area for thermal springs and I am looking forward to trying others. When we crossed the border the clocks went forward one and a half hours so this has upset our body clocks again.Next time it will go forward half an hour which won't be too bad.
