Hi
In Vegas now and here untill we leave for London on the 2nd June. This place is so busy, I can't believe how much is going on all the time. So many shows and concerts and bright lights and people and gambling - there are even pokie machines in the airport!!! We are staying in a hotel on the strip so we're right amongst the action. Going to see Robin Williams live on Sunday night so that ought to be a good laugh. The weather is very warm, supposed to be 36-38 degrees this weekend. Nigel has been a bit sick (don't eat buffet meals in Vegas) so we have been staying close to hotel but today we are going to go for a drive around the wider city area. Have just read about a huge factory outlet centre with over a hundred stores so getting excited about that (Nig isn't sharing in this excitement for some reason??). It is Memorial weekend here this weekend and so the place is filling up with people. We went for a walk down the strip last night and the sidewalks were hell - just a mass of slow walking people. Will prob wait till next week when hopefully the weather is cooler and not so many people travelling to try and navigate our way to the Hoover Dam and Grand Canyon. We went up the Stratosphere a couple of days ago. It is a tower (kind of like the sky tower) with restaurants and viewing areas at the top and we had a great view of the city out into the desert. Above the viewing platform are three thrill rides which I did - one was awesome fun, another was scary cool, and the third was downright petrifying. It was a giant seesaw with a wagon on it, so when the seesaw tips one way the wagon rolls to the end and vice versa. Only the end of the seesaw goes right over the edge of the tower. So when the wagon rolls forward at 115 stories in the air you honestly feel like it isn't going to stop and you are going to go right off the edge and plummet to your death!!! I was seated right in the front! VERY SCARY - Nig bought the photo as I look so hilariously freaked out! Afterwards I found out that it is only held on by some sort of magnetic thingee and that they had had malfunctions with one of the other rides up there! But I can't let that put me off too much as there are so many rides and things to do around here. Love you all.
