Drove to Mossman Gorge and caught the shuttle bus up to the rainforest. Walked a 3km route around the canopy, across a suspension bridge and then along the forest floor. The sights were amazing. An early alarm this morning with Cairns Parkrun starting at 7am! A rainy start but the sun soon came out. We stayed around Cairns for the morning, checking out the shops and local markets. Hired a car and drove to Lake Barrine, stopping at Heales lookout to check out the view. This is the photo attached. Took a sailing boat to Michaelmas Bay on the Great Barrier Reef. The sea was pretty choppy! Went snorkelling on the reef and saw a large range of coral and beautiful, colourful fish. Our highlight was definitely the turtles though. We were lucky enough to see three of them! The first one was missing a back leg but was really friendly. Started the morning with a scrumptious breakfast at Jam Pantry in Greenslopes (Brisbane). Had french toast with balsamic strawberries, beetroot and apple jam and candied tangelo rind. Yum!
