Today we hired a car and made our way to the hot springs in Mornington Peninsula. On our way, we stopped at Dromana Estate and Foxeys Hangout vineyards for me to try some local wines. Flew to Melbourne this morning and spent the day walking around the city, taking in the sights (and a few ciders). Went to MoVida (an amazing tapas restaurant) for dinner. We shared a range of delicious dishes; including tuna steak served with a pea and white bean salad, pork and quail egg tostadas and a beautifully cooked lamb t-bone with stinging nettle purée. Spent the day at the Ekka, a Queensland festival. It was a public holiday in Brisbane too so it was pretty busy but we were still able to test some food samples, look at the cats, dogs and farm animals and look at some great artwork and photography. Highlights were certainly the triple cheese toastie, the Bertie Beetle $2 bag and the delicious strawberry sundae (as pictured above). I started the day with a 1 mile swim at the local outdoor pool in Coorparoo. It had a lovely atmosphere, was warm and the sun was shining. Lisa had to work today so I caught the bus to Southbank. I went around the Maritime Museum, using an audio guide to navigate HMAS Diamantina; the last surviving river class frigate. Got up early and walked down to the beach to watch the sunrise. It was beautiful. Checked out of our hotel, after a relaxing dip in the outdoor jacuzzi. Jumped in the car and drove to Kuranda and saw a field of wild kangaroos on our route. We took the skyrail to Kuranda village, stopping at a couple of view points including Barron Falls.
