Just a quick one to update on our last few days in Brazil. We managed to find a cheap flight on the internet from Rio to Salvador, so thankfully did not have to endure that 24 hour bus journey. Salvador is the African soul of Brazil and you can definitely feel this vibe the moment we arrived. The heat was so much more humid than Rio. We stayed in the Pelourinho area, which feels like a protected area…there are armed police officers on every corner. This is one place I wouldn't want to walk at night on my own. We didn't really do too much here, took a bus ride to Praia do forte, where we visited a turtle sanctuary, and spent the other 2 days at the beach. We then headed over to Brasília by bus (24hours!!!!) to take up an offer of some r n r time by staying with some friends of Lewis, James and Helouisa. Brasília is not typically a place where tourists go as it is fairly expensive and does not have very good public transport. The city was only built 52 years ago and is now the capital of Brazil. Very much appreciated being welcomed with open arms, a fridge full of food, comfy double bed, a day out on the yacht and couple of days just chilling at the 'iate club'. Flash Backpackers!
Sitting here writing this blog in Bolivia after an enduring 21 hour bus journey, makes us realise what a great country Brazil is, definitely the best place so far. But we'll save the bus journey story for our next blog……..
Back to the Spanish……chao for now Amigos.
