Another lovely breakfast at the B&B with hosts Judy and Steve. On to the Stonehenge experience! Perfect day including the Druids' "Welcoming Ceremony". Next to Bath. Relaxing stroll around town. No Cathedral but an Abbey. I now know the difference. Will tour Bath tomorrow. Dinner in the oldest pub in Bath. Brilliant!

Cathedral day! Morning tour of Winchester Cathedral. Unique for its association with Jane Austin. Afternoon tour of Salisbury Cathedral. Unique for having the tallest spire in the U.K. Both interesting and awesome. Delightful concert rehearsal in Salisbury Cathedral. Evening walk to the view point above Winchester. Worth the climb. Dinner at Pan Asian restaurant. Most places close before 9. We were fortunate to find one open and good.

Set off for Brighton but lost our GPS as we approached the resort. Hard to navigate when you have nothing to go by. Spent quality time in Brighton's Hertz. The chip popped out for some mysterious reason but was eventually shoved in far enough to work. A quick photo of the beach and we were off to Winchester. Traffic! TGIF! Explored the Cathedral of Canterbury which is an important Anglican Church because of Thomas Becket. Also learned a little about Chaucer, although I don't know exactly what the tales are about. We walked the sculpture/river walk but couldn't find most of the sculpture. Continued to research beer by frequenting our favorite pub. Had a lovely dinner at another pub with good conversation, mostly about WWII. Early evening with the hopes of getting back to normal ...

Easy landing, passport control and luggage pickup. Rent-a-car turned into ordeal. Twice as expensive as guaranteed price and "too big" of a car, but good GPS, maybe. Learning curve for driving on "wrong" side was good enough to get us to Canterbury safely. Difficult staying awake (2 naps). Medieval town with interesting pubs and friendly people.
