It was a quick trip but we are running out of time, so two days in yosemite it was. After a long drive in and up, with a lot of beautiful views. We did stop a few times, we reached the entrance point to find out that as it was national earth day, we got free entry into yosemite. We are staying in an unheated tent like cabin, so we where glad it was a nice day. (it was too expensive to have a heated one) We stopped off to walk up to a big waterfall, which we got soaked at. When a bear just casually walked past! After all that excitement we went to the campsite, put on our walking boots and off we went.
It was freezing!!! It got so cold at night, we had 3 blankets on each and it wasn't enough, regret not paying for the heating this morning. It did warm up for the day, and we hiked, well tried to a loop that goes throughout the valley floor were you can see all of the waterfalls and major mountains. The trail was so badly signposted I think we saw one at the start and that was it. So we did get a bit sidetracked, and eventually came to an end as the overflow from a waterfall literally turned the path into a river. We did see soon wild deer though, and a lot of giant squirrels, they where the size of cats!
Later that evening we happened to find out that the exit out of yosemite we needed to take was closed by a truck that had fallen over. We were all prepared to go out another way, a much longer way as we didn't think they would clear it by morning as it was already 8pm when we found this out. Luckily by morning it was clear, so we where able to visit mariposa grove on the way out.
It was an even longer drive out of yosemite, and towards Los Angeles, but we made it and without getting lost amazing!!!!
