KADAVULAILAI ISLAND - Bounty Island Resort was where we spent our last night off the mainland and due to the boat apparently running on ‘Fijian time’ we arrived in pitch black…. quite a unique experience being in the middle of the ocean at night on a boat that would struggle to cross the river Aire, we landed safe and sound though to a different but equally beautiful island.
This was the smallest island we visited (bearing in mind the others were tiny too) we could walk round the beach circumference in about 15-20 minutes, we were pleasantly surprised to find our ocean view bure came ensuite with air-conditioning and a fridge! Although it was a very nice experience staying in very basic accommodation, air-conditioning allows a full night’s dehydration free sleep and was very welcome!
We were up early for breakfast and eventually had the opportunity to take a look around… this is when we discovered Celebrity Love Island was filmed here and they took great pride in displaying pictures in the dining room, the actual pool in the programme is still there and used although the celebrity bedroom is now a bar! This was by far the most luxurious island and we could have spent much longer here, the food was lovely and plenty of places to chill out in the sun.
We got talking to Bret (the resident Dive Instructor) and managed to talk Jo into her second Scuba dive which we both LOVED…. the water is absolutely crystal clear, never seen anything like it and the coral is beautiful….. 37 minutes of tranquility. Craig had the fish eating bread from his hands; hundreds of gorgeous tropical fish surrounded us in seconds!
We reluctantly left the island spending two more nights at the Aquarius Hotel before checking into the Radisson Resort for four nights to celebrate Jo’s birthday…… lizard free!
Next stop..... Australia
