Jo's Most Excellent Adventure
Ahoy there from the Captain of the good ship Lollipop!
Here I am in the "Township of 1770" having just finished my crazy 4x4 adventure on Fraser Island and stint as a surfer chick at Rainbow Beach. Hmmm surfing lets just say I took to it as gracefully as a brick to water, managed to twist my knee so hopped along for a day or so. Will leave it to hot aussie guys in future, though now know why they have such hot bods, surfing is such hard work!!
Anyways, Fraser. So much to say and so little I can tell my parents, lol. Well luckily I managed to end up in a really good group, avoiding the "The 30 litres of Goon" (cheap box wine) and "The Dodgy Spanish Guy" groups. After leaving the dodgy Dingos hostel at Rainbow we soon sped off onto Fraser leaving the other groups in our dust, literally.
Fraser is covered in beautiful coloured freshwater lakes and our first stop was bright blue Lake McKenzie, like swimming in the Thai sea it was so bright! Managed to swim across it which was bloody hard work but rewarding as we saw a cool lizard. Pretty much set up camp along the beach after that before it got dark and then the fun started! Due to the infamous Hat Drinking game, (copyright Group C Fraser Island) we all were in bed by 10 as we were so wasted! (NB To Mum/ When I say "wasted" I mean wasted on lemonade of course)
Managed to get up for sunrise the next morning and got some awesome shots and the rest of the day was spent breaking pretty much every rule we'd been given, driving in the sea water, over the speed limit, past Indian Head....though we got to check out the really cool shipwreck of the SS Maheno and the giant rock pools of the Champagne pools. Needless to say we were all absolutely knackered and the weather started to close in but due to Franks Masterpiece with the tarp we stayed nice and dry. Oh and we weren't too tired to indulge in the first Fraser Island Midnight Olympics later on.
Final stop off the next day was bright green lake Wobby Wobby, attempts to catch lunch with my poncho were thwarted by cunning catfish in the lake. Totally missioned it back to make the ferry and almost toppled the van, crazy men drivers!!!
Still absolutely knackered from the trip, need to sleep for a week to catch it all up which is all there's pretty much to do here in 1770. Relaxation here I come!
Oh and two months til I get home!!!! Hope you're not planning any secret surprise parties or anything......lol
