Jo's Most Excellent Adventure
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snooowwwwww.......!
Another update from the awesome place that is Queenstown. Basically I've decided to stay here for pretty much all my time in New Zealand, it's like Christmas town! I've started my volunteer work helping out prepare for the Winter Ski Festival, helping with the local school's float in the parade....it's taken worryingly too seriously! Anyway the festival promises to be really good with a professional snowboarding competition going on at Coronet Peak as an opening ceremony, think I might enter....ho ho.
The town is great, the nightlife especially, packed full of trendy apres-ski bars - think huge log fires, wooly jumpers and tasty snowboarders! Also there's a legendary chocolate shop which does huge hot chocolates ladled into bowls....and I have to walk past it everyday! Not fair!
Sadly had to say goodbye to Chris and Ella, really gutted but hopefully we'll meet up in Auckland and Fiji again. Had a crazy few days with some funky asians, Panchouli, (Thai), Xiaowei, (Chinese and most impressed I could pronounce her name!) and Ginie (South Korean) - so am feeling quite multicultural and they cooked fantastic asian meals for us every night! Oh and met another guy, a proper one this time who actually buys me drinks and takes me on dates. Progress.
Was supposed to go into the bush Kiwi Tagging with my friend Aki who works at the hostel but due to the heavy snowfall, (hurrah for skiing) I'm pretty much stranded in Queenstown! Besides with this weather the only kiwi's we'd find would be frozen popsicles! So I'm just going to cuddle up with my new man and have a nice cup of tea! (Am tempted to send him out into the cold for a hot chocolate though....well...why not!)
Peace out.
Jo
