So had a good time in Battembang, the night after we went on the Bamboo train, we didnt really do much tired from the carzy times in Siem Reap I think!
Our second day in Battembang we had a tour around the area, on a tuk-tuk. We first were taken to Cambodia's version of the Goldern Gate Bridge, a rickety old wooden version that looked like it would fall down any minute!
Phnom Banan was next on the tour where we sweated all the way up the 358 steps up a large hill where there was small temples on the top. The views were amazing and worth the epic hike!
Back on the tuk tuk again then we got off at the bottem of a another mountain with temples on top, this time we got a motorbike ride up and made our own way down, much easier! We headed bac to our guest house after a good tour of the countryside and how people lived outside the city. We were ment to have another night, we were over the place so decided to relax for a while the to get the night bus down the country to the south coast and Sihanoukville.
The bus left at 23.30 and it was the coldest bus i had even been on, air con was stupidly on full blast! Got a little sleep was was confused when, at 5.30am, was told to get off the bus, was then told that we had to change buses and the next bus didnt leave for another 2 hours! Not impressed. We went to a last night pub so wasnt too bad, then we were on the next bus and in Sihanoukville but 11.30am.
We didnt have any accom booked but a rep from a hostel that we had been reccommended was there,so we got a motobike ride straight there.
We put our things down then headed for the beach. Beach is stunning, and only a 5 minute walk away. So we got a sun lounger on the beach, and was literally asked every 10 mintues if was wanted to buy brackets, sunglasses, lobsters, squid or to have a manicure/pedicure. Was annoyed by being constantly asked at first, but the ladies/girls selling are so friendy, and like to chat. We just learnt quickly by still saying a firm no when they ask you if you want someting for free ( it is free but they guilt you to buying sometihng when they come back to you 5 mintues later! ) and if they say ' you want later '!
That night we went to our hostel and had drinks bought for us by a drunk Norwegian man all night! Good times!
And thats us at the moment really, spending our days at the beach by day, and night, on the drinks at the hostels then we head down to the beach. We've met so many people, already feel like we know most of the people here, a recognised them from speaking on beach, or in a bar! Although we didnt see much of today as we got in at 5.30am so we slept today, a lot!!! We quite like it here, so will stay for at least another 4-5 days. Will do a boat trip and spend more days sunning ourselves! :D
oh, and the tans coming along very nicely!
