Mom and I started our day by going to the zoo. It was a pretty small not mention worthy zoo except for the flamingos. Now, if you know me I LOVE flamingos! At this zoo they were just walking around!! It was amazing! I seriously was inches away from them. We also saw a flamingo "show" which was basically a group of trained flamingos that the trainer had walking around, turning and stopping. Then at the show they picked a few lucky volunteers to go in and take pictures with the flamingos. I lucked out and the orginial volunteer (some kid that was there with his parents) didn't want to go up so I got to!! WIN.
After Mom and I took the local bus to downtown and went to the Straw Market. This is where I got my first try at bargining. I wasn't very good at the begining but I got MUCH better. This market is basically known for knock off purses, wallets, sunglasses etc. and things made out of straw. I ended up buyig a pretty straw fan, and my mom got a straw hat. From there we ate and walked around downtown which mostly consists of touristy type shops and historial buildings. Mom got us lost downtown trying to find the bus back to the hotel but we eventually found it and headed back.
Once back at the hotel we hit the beach where I met a few people who are going on the trip with me. They were super nice and I felt a lot better about making friends on the boat. I am not a particularly shy human so I am not too worried.
Mom and I went to dinner at a restaurant called The Poop Deck. It was one of the places the taxi driver yesterday recommended. It was a pretty little restaurant right on the beach. Mom and I both had a daiquiri and we tried a Bahamian food, conch fritters. It was deicious! I am surprised I liked it since I don't eat anything from the sea, usually. But now I can't say that anymore!
Its another quiet night for us back at the hotel. The heat and sun really makes us tired :)
Also. With this heat and sun I am going to get a wonderful tan. :)
"At the beach, life is different. Time doesn't move hour by hour but mood to moment. We live by the currents, plan b the tides and follow the sun."
