Friday morning we left very early for the airport. Our flight was at 7 a.m. so we had to take the 5:15 but from Prado. It's not too far of a walk, but we do have to leave our houses at 4:30. I woke up and looked at my phone to see what time it was and it was 4:23! So I quickly texted Mike because he was supposed to text me when he got up. And since I had no texts that meant he was still asleep too. Good thing I packed everything the night before and laid my clothes out for the morning. I got ready really fast and met Mike outside at 4:40. We were worried that we would miss the bus and have to take a taxi there, which would be ridiculously expensive. But we walked quickly and got to the stop with a few minutes to spare.
The flight over wasn't bad at all. It didn't seem like it took very long. We tried watching some of Mike's movies on his computer, but the sound was really low and we couldn't hear it with his headphones. So we finally gave up and read. When we got there we had to take a bus from the airport to San Telmo station. Then catch a city bus to take us to Santa Catalina Park. It didn't cost very much though. Less than 4 euro all together. From where we got off the city bus we were able to walk to our hostel within 10 minutes. The weather was really nice and we were excited to get settled and head to the beach. We checked in, which took forever because the old lady was insanely slow. But it was worth it I guess. Once we got to the room we were in shock. It was amazing! There was a huge bed that was not sitting on the ground, a closet, 2 nightstands, a desk, lots of space to walk around everything, and a really decent sized bathroom. WIth a normal shower! Our window opened up towards the street but it was still a nice view and we got a good breeze through them. We opened the windows up and felt that it was definitely warm enough for us to go to the beach so we got changed and packed up the backpack. We were worried it might get a little cold so we brought our jackets with us. Not necessary. It only took like 5 minutes to walk to the beach. On the walk there we stopped to buy some towels and got some great ones for only 3 euros! They have all of the islands on it and they are labeled and everything. So we each got a beach towel.
When we got to the beach and found our spot it was perfect weather. It ended up getting up to 78 degrees! There was a light breeze so that made it perfect. We stopped at a little store and Mike bought some beers and I got a carton of Sangria for the beach. We lounged in the sun all day and had some drinks and relaxed. When we got realy warm we went in swimming. At first the water was a little chilly but we got used to it fast and stayed in for almost an hour. It was amazing. The water was so clear and clean too. Mike made a couple trips back to the store to get some more cold beers and bought me a cold Smirnoff Ice.
Around 4:30 we decided to go back to the room to get cleaned up, maybe watch a movie, and then go to a Chinese Buffet that Mike found for only 6.50 euro for dinner. We hadn't eaten anything since that morning at the airport so we were starved. We got cleaned up to get all the sand off from the beach and washed out our bathing suits so they wouldn't be all sandy for Saturday. While I was doing my hair and makeup Mike passed out on the bed. When I was done I went to wake him up and when he told me to lay next to him for a couple minutes we both ended up falling asleep. All the traveling, sun, drinks, and swimming definitely must have worn us out.
I woke up and it was 8:00. We had missed the sunset. So I woke Mike up and we left for dinner. It was chilly out, but not too bad. We wore our jackets and walked along the boardwalk for a little bit before going to the buffet. When we got to dinner it was so good! There was so much great Chinese and since we were starving we definitely ate 6.50 euro worth. They had some amazing chicken wings that had a great rub on them. After we ate Chinese food to our hearts content we had to try the ice cream too. So we tried pretty much every flavor they had of ice cream before finally finishing our meal. I got a gift of a bracelet with our meal so I got this white charm bracelet. It's cute. It was the first time I've ever gotten a gift with a meal since I was little. After dinner we walked along the beach for a while just enjoying the ocean and the night. It was a great day just relaxing and enjoying the beach. When we got back to the room we watched Saving Private Ryan, then went to bed.
