Koln was my favirote place in Germany, although we were ther only one night on our way to the Netherlands.
Koln was much much smaller then the other places we visited in Germany. It had cobblestone streets and tiny cute resturants along the water everywhere. We visited a beautiful cathedral where a man was playing a grand piano and people were drawing with sidwalk chalk. This city was very cultured and artsy. We ate at a tapas bar and tried a lot of new food. We had goat cheese and bell peppers and other very funny dishes. We had been living off of apples and nutella and bread for over a week at this point--so we decided that we needed a tiny break from this. We went walking on this huge bridge after dinner and had a German beer (which was very very very bitter). The bridge had locks ALLL OVERRR the bridge. Couples would come to the bridge with locks with names on them--some were fancy or creative-- and "lock there love" It was a very romantic scene--and also very cool! There were hundreds of them! I went to be that night in Koln feeling like I really got a feal for German culture, and so excited to head to Amsterdam in the morning!
