Day Three (Last day in Beijing): Yonghegong (Lama Temple), Tiananmen Square.
Yonghegong: The Lama Temple is a Buddhist Temple. It was so interesting to see all the people there to pray and watch them in their process. There were so many beautiful statues of golden Buddhas. I wish we had a tour guide or someone that knew about Buddhism with us because I would have really like to hear what the statues meant and the purpose of the rituals and praying process. They all had incense sticks and all had to bow numerous times.
Tiananmen Square: The last stop before we had to head out to the airport. The day was so hot that we didn't stay out at the square for very long. It was so hot and we were all just dying to find some place to eat that had AC. We were glad we at least got to see the square and take out pictures with the famous gate with Mao on it. There were a lot of other tourists. More random people wanted to take pictures with my friends and it was pretty funny. We were taking pictures of ourselves with the gate in the background and they would wait until we were done. One family even positioned their daughter next to Jessica and had Jessica hold her hand. It was so funny.
Beijing was so much fun, but so tiring. We were all so happy to get back on the plane to head back to Shanghai, which has become our home here in China. I wish I could have spent more time there, so I didn't have to feel as rushed when we did all of our sightseeing. There are still definitely things that I would like to see again and those that I was not able to visit this time. It's okay...now I have an excuse to return.
