Dear fellow, following Pilgrims
The vagaries of the pilgrim's path are reason for some concern. Caused, as they are, at times mostly, by self-infliction, due to lack of French and secondly just enough IT knowledge to make simple errors, which seem to defy gentle corrections.
A language example, the first of many: yesterday on arrival here in the delightful town of Lectoure which is cited as one of the most beautiful in rural France, there was still time for a late lunch in one of the small cafes in the main very narrow street.
I scanned the menu, as I do looking for words I know and hoping the words in between hold no surprises when the dish arrives. Words like agneau as in the Latin agnus or lamb; Porc for our pork. But for some time, I have been puzzled by a word which begins with "a" and ends in "ette".
It appears with frequency in the entre section.
So, I pointed to the word and enquired. With the patience of Job and a straight face, the waiter said it's the word for "plate". Yes, this particular dish and any others beginning with the word was guaranteed to be presented on a plate. Henceforth, to avoid any further humiliation, I have decided to just point and hope for the best.
This is a very unsatisfactory factory blog for the reason the internet has been very difficult to access and sent photos have not gone. So, I will send this with the promise of a few more short ones today as I enjoy my second rest day.
With warm regards to you all on a very warm day here but nothing like eastern Australia.

Robert Hennessy The trials of the traveller, the good old point and hope for the best!!! The pictures have been stunning and hope you are keeping well Jim
Mary Lawson At least your Latin gives you some idea! Happy travelling Jim.
Bob and Yoko Agree with Robert's comment above: stunning photos, as always. Is there only enough space for one photo per post? The autumn temps and scenery must be tops.
Valli and Mick Don't feel bad about the plate misunderstanding. In Italy, years ago, I said to a hotel receptionist in quite well accented Italian: "Your hotel is delightful. May I book to stay again yesterday?"
Nathan Mulheron Jim, I would not have even got close like you did using the latin derivatives! Everyone at Cerdon is behind you all the way. We finished off the term with some fundraising and will be pleased the donate the proceeds of raffles / cake stalls and donations.
