Crossing from Kuala Lumpur in to Singapore was one of our shorter journeys and relatively pain-free. After a couple of sleepless nights in KL staying directly above a bar that wrongly advertised itself as 'quiet & sound-proof', we were hoping to have a relaxing 5 days and also catch up with some much-needed sleep....no such luck!!
After making the mistake of not booking anywhere, we ended up in Little India in a hostel above an Australia pub! We were lured by the'Sunday Sessions', half-price ciders and snags on the barbie to prep us for Aussie life! As you can imagine, this wasn't exactly a quiet location. We certainly exhaused Singapore visiting every shopping mall and seeing every sight possible. With aching feet at the end of each day we took advantage of staying in Little India and feasted on some of our favourite food!
We were more than ready to get to Australia - so keen infact that we decided to spend the day at Changi airport waiting for our overnight flight! The thought of checking-out at 11am and spending the day in a hot & sticky city was not so appealing. The roof-top pool at the airport was!
Feeling like a couple of idiots, we got all the way to the airport only to be told that we needed a boarding pass to use the pool and our airline was about the only one that didn't allow early check-in! So back to the hot & sticky city it was with our swine-flu symptoms....not a great day. We did finally get on our bargain flight that night (35 pounds each!) and we were on our way down-under.......
