hello everyone,

i am still in cairns, i arrived here last thursday! the weather has been terrible, it has rained since i arrived. i have never seen rain like it, there has been flooding and some of the rds out of cairns have been closed off so i have been unable to leave to make my way south. i'm thinking of changing my original route due to the weather conditions.

the hostel i am staying in is very nice, it is located 10 min walk from the centre has good facilities and the lads are a laugh! i met a lad from essex on the plane and we met a aussie lad at the hostel so we are hanging out together!!

Aussie's are be very laid back people, that laid back they are lying on the floor!! ha ha The aussie lad offered to take us up north for a drive, we travelled up north 400km to a place called cook town. i have never seen roads so remote!! a car would pass every hour or so. we saw kangaroo's, horses, cows and there were signs warning that there were crocs in the area but we didn't find any!! ha ha the people there were very strange, but i think i would be if i had no mobile, tv, cus of no signal!!

we came across some mountains that were covered in black rock, they are known as the 'black mountains' they are owned by the abariginals and people and animals have been reported to have gone missing once entering. it was a very smooky place and it gave us all the willies!! we drove down the rd and a black poisoners snake was in the rd, so we stopped to take a pic, remaining in the car. it turned out to be the 2nd most deadliest snake in aus!! ha it's called a red belly black.

when we set off the weather was not too bad but it turned and it started raining dogs and cats!! we stayed over at a place called the lions den. it had crazy locals that were not to kean on the british. on the way back we were going to take a more mountainous route but due to the weather conditions gave it a miss. someone had lost there land rover in a river the day before. we came back the same route and went fishing for the day, i caught to huge fish, it was ace!!

Apart from that i haven't been up to much, been to town a few times in the day!! watched a few films, played some board games, playing pool, been swimming in the pool, done some fitness training. been out to town around the bars and clubs for a few beers. there aint a great deal to do with the weather the way it is.
