Helloooo! Greetings from Switzerland! Jude here, with our first blog - boy do we have a treat for you!
Paris was just AMAZING, we went up the Eiffel Tower (unfortunately I got the wrong tickets & we had to walk up the stairs instead of going in the lift - Jim was NOT impressed!! We only made it to the First level before we admitted defeat
The Mona Lisa was mobbed, but worth it - felt weirdly emotional at seeing it for real, don't know why
Notre Dame was impressive from the outside but a bit of a circus inside - €5 candles for lighting, get your coin stamped with a crucifix, didn't seem very spiritual to me.
Had a lovely walk down the Champes Eliseé to the Arc de Triumph, which was chaos - there's an accident every eight minutes & you're automatically at fault, no insurance will cover you - mad!
So now we're in Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland, with a magnificent view down the valley towards the glacial heights of Jungfrau, where we're going to go this afternoon. You travel up through the peaks on the train & then stop where they filmed a James Bond movie! Woohoo!
The town is absolutely gorgeous, quaint little wooden buildings & flowers & cows with bells on - so Heidi!
The group we're travelling in isn't bad either, there's a girl from Altrincham which is nice, a few Aussies & a smattering of Kiwis. The tourguide's called Ben & he's Canadian, Sonia's the cook & she's Aussie with Italian parents & Jared is the driver, also Aussie! There's only 15 of us so it's a really nice little group - the last one they had 40 on so it was a bit manic!
Well, my hot chocolate has gone cold so I'm off to get another one, will update you all soon, love Jude & Jim xx
