Photo's at Airlie Beach, Christmas Day there were families at the huge swimming pool by the sea doing barbecues and swimming or staying in the shade to keep cool. We both thought the celebrations were much better at home and UK TV's more entertaining (we were missing our family as well) 27th we had a boat trip Cruising The Whitsunday Islands and out to the Great Barrier Reef Pontoon, snorkelling for an hour before lunch and also the same that afternoon (had to wear wetsuits because of the stinger jellyfish) rough going out and coming back lot of people were sick but we were OK. The sea was cloudy and it made us realise how good the snorkelling was in the Maldives.
28th moved on to Mackay on route we went to Eungella National park, it's a misty tropical forest clad mountain with Broken River flowing through which is allegedly good for spotting Platapus but we didn't. So we had a walk in the damp warm forest which leeches love and they loved trying to suck our blood as well (we must of scraped 15-20 off each of us) lovely.
Next day 29th on our way to Rockhampton we visited Capricorn Caves and had a very interesting 90mins under ground. Hope you all had a great Christmas and wishing you a happy and healthy New Year. John & Gail
