Ok so we have ended up flying to the Andaman Islands, and we're here until Sat 5th when we fly to Kolkata to do our placement. We thought we would relax on a tropical island before the ciaos of the city!

I still have one week to catch up on though… From Varkala we went to Allapey where we saw the backwaters of Kerela.

The whole area is surrounded by water and we even had to get a canoe to the place we were staying, interesting with a backpack on as I was sure we would sink! We stayed in a bamboo stick lodge on a island in the backwaters. It was like a tree house and was the most amazing place I have ever stayed. We were surrounded by the backwaters and it was so nice and relaxing… although of course it started to rain as soon as we got there! We took a canoe out around the waters which seemed a good idea at the time but we got soaked! Luckily we stopped at this ladies house to shelter and got bananas and coconut milk which was nice. There were a lot of big luxurious tourist boats and so we were quite a sight in our little canoe - they all pointed and laughed and took photos!
