OK so I know I've been rubbish at this but I will try and put all my photos on and update you on my trip, even if I have to do it when I get home!
MARCH
COCHIN (Kerala) -
Only spent a short time here, it is was a nice sea side fishing town. It is famous for using these ancient Chinese fishing nets which are huge, and the fish is very tasty too. We also saw a Kathakali performance which is the famous traditional dance of Kerala…something I actually studied at Uni so it was cool to see it live - which is something I never thought would happen at the time!
WAYANAD WILDLIFE SANCTURY (Kerala) -
This park is in northern Kerala and we had a bit of a crazy journey getting there… in an auto rickshaw on the way to the bus stop the driver was so excited that we were foreigners and kept turning around to look at us that he crashed his auto right into the back of a stationery car! No one was harmed except the auto! Once we got on the bus we didn't realize how high up the wildlife sanctuary was so the journey was scary to say the least. The tin-can bus kept climbing up the hills and the roads were so narrow and bumpy, we were winding around these bends at speed and we couldn't bear to look over the edge. What made it worse was even the locals couldn't handle the journey - the girl next to me threw up 6 times!!
We survived the journey, just, and stayed in the nicest hotel yet - my first hot shower, amazing! We went on a trek through the park and had to wade through massive rivers and climb trees and all kinds of activities that I thought my insurance would not cover, it was fun though - at one with nature!
Also did a safari through the wildlife sanctuary and saw some elephants, birds and deer, the tigers where hiding.
Then got a bus to the city of Mysore…
