On Wednesday Georgia and I went with nearly all the staff to an area of the bush they wanted to clear for breakfast and sundowners in the bush. First we had to cut the area back with machetes, then pile up the trees to be burnt. We then had to remove the big rocks and move them to then level out the area for tables. So after helping to make a fire using sticks and elephant dung and a long time rubbing the sticks between our hands we managed to set the dung alight and build our bonfire. I then grabbed the hoe and removed roots and started to move the soil levelling out the area. The guys were really impressed with the way I worked which was nice. We all then had a bush brewed tea and a doughnut (mandazi) before finishing our job and returning for lunch and a hard earned rest by the pool.
In the evening, we once again had a sundowner up on the hill first stopping at the old Shamen's cave where he lived many years hunting. When we reached the top of this new sundowner area Daniel was waiting with my bottle of white wine and some nibbles. Now this is living!
