I have been really slack at updating this so i will do a brief summary of what i have been up to for the last 3 months!
I left alice springs at the end of October, had an absolutely amazing time there. I left alice springs with a friend of mine and we did adventure tours up to darwin. it was great fun, had a good group of people and saw some amazing things.
after Darwin I flew down to the Gold Coast, met up with a friend, and went jet skiing, shopping, out for food, etc.
Then my family arrive in Brisbane. We stayed with some friends, had a grea time with them, went up to the sunshine coast for a week, looked around brissy, went to lone pine koala sanctuary, moreton island, and had a good time. was hard to say goodbye.
While my family were over they helped my buy a car, (alice) and its made such a difference, its meant i can do what i want when i want.
I was then unable to stay at the place i was living in brisbane, just after i had got a job. I couldnt afford to stay in a share house so went to do some woofing. found a blog on the wwoofing website about this place in the gold coast hinterland and it just sounded like the place i needed to go to.
Drove down to his, felt like i wud settle in ok, and then found out the mature lady he lived with was off her face on dope all the time and heard voices! went for a bush walk with him and he started creeping me out with the things he was doing. turned out to be a right pervert. so i decided to get out of there sharpish!
I had rung a friend whose family live in Byron and they said I could stay with them for a couple of days, then I went to the Arts Factory with a girl i had met in Sydney. I made a Digeredoo, met two girls, Lily and Zahra from Kent and Justine (Justin) and spent two weeks with them. Had an awesome time just chilling out at the hostel, went to Nimbin a couple of times and played lots of card games/trivia (not so fun). while i was in byron i went to a place called the rainbow temple! it was really cool. this guy (called Guy) had built a temple in the bush land and was in the process of digging a cave etc. stayed their for a night, it was very hippyfied!
Met two Aussie girls, Jen and Sharker, the night before the gang left and we decided to go out bush for a week. it was one of the best weeks ever! we headed south, along the coast, and met up with a friend of Jens (Juice) and went back to his Dads place, which was called Bushabushaway, a mud brick house on 50acres of bush land. we had a bbq, and played songs and did fire poi (I had to tuck my dress into my Knickers!) then the next day we had a mud bath in the dam they had on the property!
after that we drove inland to see a waterfall, and then headed to coffs harbour and then made our way back up the coast to byron. stopped at ballina to see their friends and then met sharkers brother in byron on christmas eve. me and the girls ended up dancing in the streets to the buskers. it was so surreal.
then we drove in the dark through the mountains to where sharkers brother lived. it was called jasper hall (met three guys that lived there at the rainbow temple - so it wad very weird. something was taking me back to that area) he lived in a wooden cabin in the mountains at the top of this community and i opened my xmas presents there in the middle of the night and then had to get up at 5am to get Jen to the airport!
Drove up to Redcliffe, so spend the evening there and store my belonging and then headed off to woodford folk festival. it was possibly the best week of my life! i absolutely fell in love with the place and felt so at home.
Woodford is a 5 day folk festival over New Years, I was there for 8 days and it was amazing. One of the bands I knew from Alice Springs played there, so I was a bit of a fan. it works differently from the festivals back home and the bands play numerous times over the week, means you get to see everything you want.
I was volunteering so I got free entry, seperate camping, discounted massages, and a great time. I was working in the visual arts department. Absolutely loved it. New years eve was the best in my life. I partied all night and then watched the sun rise in the morning, while the monks chanted, and then i went into the festival to start work. that was a massive task. as the day went on i became more and more crazy from lack of sleep. lasted until 9pm at night tho and fell asleep on my feet.
After Woodford i needed time to recover before going up the East Coast. I was exhausted. I met a lovely lady who i was volunteering with, and on new years, I met her friend who offered me a place to stay. they welcomed me into their family, and i really felt like i was part of it, it was lovely. i stayed there for a week, and Cathy helped me get things sorted. I had restored my faith in Australians!
