Hey guys,
Just back from our two day trip of the Whitsunday Islands, which was great fun. The night before we left I went out with two Swedish girls called Sofia and Sandra, but Chloe had a fair bit of planning for her Cairns trip so the poor thing had to sort that out. Luckily now it is all sorted, and she is a bit more comfortable with the rest of her trip. We spent the night at a club called Beaches, but it wasn't a late one as we had to be up bright and early for our boat trip.
We sailed on a boat called the S.V Whitehaven, who had 3 crew men called Rob, Will and Hughie- who had some issues we think haha.. There were 24 people on our boat, and I would be lying if I didn't say it was a little cosy haha. It was a good mix of characters, with 2 british couples, 1 swedish couple, 10 early twenty sonethings, a strange french man, a newly wed couple and their brother, a gay irish man, and us... proved 2 days of laughs!
Unfortunately for us, the weather was absolutely awful. The day before we left was the hottest we had experienced in Australia, so we were feeling pretty smug until we woke up to find turrnetial rain. So the first day of sailing was a little miserable, but at least it forced everyone to chat and bond in mutual disappointment haha. We went snorkelling and saw some beautiful coral and cool fish, and then had curry for dinner and drank abit of goon. It was an alright day all in all. Chloe and I ended up in the honeymoon suite atthe front of the boat, which was pretty funny as we had to share it with another couple... not the best night sleep as it was rather hot but oh well haha!
The second day was a little less wet tnank god. We visited Whitehaven beach which was beautiful, and Chloe and I frolicked in the water a lot lol! Hughie told us some interesting history on the islands and the aborginal origins and history, and we also had a nice walk around Whitsunday island (we thought it looked like the island in King Kong)!! Then we did some more snorkelling, which proved better as the water was clearer and we saw clams and a turtle in the distance. We enjoyed more drinking and Spag Bol that evening, and it was great fun.
Today we got back to Airlie and have just chilled... we are going out with the crew and a few other guys tonight which should prove fun!
