7/9 Zurich: The San Francisco of Switzerland, minus the homeless and pee smell
We didn't leave the hotel until about 9:30 that morning. We had bought food for breakfast the day before so we didn't have to eat at the hotel buffet (28 euro!) Mom had found a walking tour route on her map that would take us throughout the city.
We had to take the tram into town. We got off and started our walk. A lot of window shopping stops later and 1 bratwurst stop, we found a flea market where we all split up and some of us had our 2nd sausage of the day. A little while after we met up, we walked along the pier and decided to do a 90 min. lake boat cruise... which ended up being half price!
The cruise was very relaxing. The water was super clear and the houses along the water were fabulous. After the tour, we continued our walk through the city, stopping at boutiques and sport shops along the way. The city itself was pretty clean, but the shops and buildings were similar to SF, minus the height of the skyscrapers.
We stopped at a pub/restaurant. Chris decided to go eat somewhere else and go back to the hotel. The rest of us stayed at the pub. Dad, Combes and Bruce all ordered something called a "jumbo jumbo" which was a MASSIVE chicken cordon bleu. I had a few bites of dad's and I was stuffed!
We headed back to the hotel after as it started to sprinkle. We all started to pack up because everyone's flights left the next morning, except for mine.
At 8:30 we said goodbye to Bruce and Renee in the lobby. They were leaving the hotel around 8 am the next morning. We then went back upstairs to finish our own. I decided I would have time to pack the next day because I was doing a late check out at 1..(my flight didn't leave until 8:50 PM.)
We turned off the lights around 10:30. The next day was going to be a long travel day for everyone!
