Our last day in New York was very relaxing, we called a car service for 6pm to give us plenty of time before our 10:30 flight, cleaned and packed up all our gear and then went for a walk around Brooklyn and to a traditional American diner for lunch where I ordered an Omlette and they asked me if I wanted fries with it and Jesse had a massive burger. It was the anniversary of Bin Ladens death and people were advised not to use the Subways if it wasn't essential so we just stayed in for the afternoon and watched T.V. At about 5 minutes to 6 we were dressed, ready and waiting for the car to arrive when I picked up our tickets that I have had printed since Buffalo and read the departure time of 18:50, I had to get Jesse to check it to make sure my eyes weren't playing tricks on me and sure enough we had well and truely missed our flight and it was all my fault so I tried ringing several numbers for British Airways and canceled the car service, after being on hold for 20minutes and with my heart pounding I finally got through to a man who told us to just go to the airport and see what they can do so I re-ordered a car and we raced downstairs, the wait for the car and the trip to the airport took about 45minutes but it felt like a lifetime especially when Jesse wasn't talking to me. Upon arrival at the airport we raced to the help desk and happened to speak to a very lovely lady who put us on the next flight at 9:20pm and a connecting flight to Edinburgh as well and didn't charge us anything (I can't believe it), think she could sense how stressed I was. I had already inherited from mum being paranoid about missing flights and now I am going to be ten times worse and have learnt to always double check. Jo (Bill Suff's sister) was waiting for us at the Edinburgh airport which was such a relief and she had gotted my 12am message on her answering machine informing her of the changed time as well as Lib double checking with her and after 48hours of no sleep it was great to be in a homely place. We are staying in her quest house which is brand new and awesome. On our first full day in Scotland we went to a town called Stirling which had great shops and went to the Stirling Castle where we spent hours because it was soo interesting. It is great to see grass again and everything over here is soo green not to mentioned all the manicured gardens, hedges and stone walls. The following day we took a drive to Blair castle which is the 'Murray' castle where our ancestry is from and it was amazing. They show the whole family tree of the Murrays and the castle was beautiful as you can see from the pictures. We weren't allowed to take many photos on the inside of the castle but from the photos and family portraits it is obvious where the 'Murray nose' came from. On the way there we ran into a traffic jam so took some lovely country roads instead and stopped off at a traditional Scottish pub and had Stovies which were interesting. We also visited the Drummond gardens which were absolutely amazing, the hedging is so precise and Dad I don't think you have anything to complain about if you see how much work goes into this garden. Our time in Scotland has passed by very fast and we have thoroughly enjoyed the home cooked meals, being driven everywhere and just getting spoilt in general. It is a very beautiful country!!!
