After Dallas we caught a bus to Houston, Texas which took about 5 hours and we both really enjoyed the trip as we got great seats because as usual we were there early. It was good to see some countryside and Greyhound have a baggage system where you have to show your tickets to be able to pick up your bags so we didn't have to worry about anyone stealing our bags. We only spent one day in Houston so didn't get much of a chance to explore especially because it happened to be super bowl Sunday and absolutely nothing else seems to happen in America that day other than the super bowl, the build up to it was like the state of origin multiplied by 1000. We then got on another bus for 6 hours to Baton Rouge Louisiana where it is absolutely beautiful and we noticed straight away that we weren't in Texas anymore particularly becuase the people were so lovely. We had a quick stopover in a small town where I ran in to use the toilets quickly and when I came back out the bus driver questioned me about if I was meant to be getting onto the bus and I assured him that I had a ticket and was definately meant to be on the bus, he eventually believed me and while I was waiting for the women who was getting off I glanced around to see our bus with Jesse looking out the window laughing (there was only 1 bus when we arrived). The weather was beautiful for our 2 days in Baton Rouge and our hotel was right next door to an amazing mexican restaurant as well as an awesome Louisiana Ribs restaurant where we ate twice because we were finally able to get proper veges and mashed potatoes (mum they usually leave the skin on when they mash them like I hate), we even had the manager come over and have a chat to us so we have both agreed that it was the best meal we have had since getting to the states. Our first day we found the Mall of Louisiana which had great shopping and food and we went to the movies which was only $7 each and apart from one or two we were the only people in the cinema. The Mall was beautiful and there was barely anyone so it was great to have a look through all the shops. On our second day in Baton Rouge we walked 5miles down the road to find the Louisiana State University and as you can probably tell from the photos it was massive and the people there take their uni very seriously, I managed to sneak into the football stadium for a quick photo and it was almost the size of Suncorp Stadium. There were LSU flags everywhere and people had LSU number plates and even a LSU bus, they sure are proud of their University. We then went back to the Mall again because we loved it soo much. Overall Baton Rouge was a huge success particularly as it was just meant to be a stopover before New Orleans. I have to thank Garth Brooks quickly becuase if it weren't for his song 'Callin Baton rouge' I probably never would have chosen to stay here and my only regret is not staying longer. We are definately looking forward to New Orleans though especially becuase our waiter tonight informed us that it is Mardi Gras season this weekend!!!
