Hi!
Well the photo is from Chile but that's what it looks like around here anyway..
I met up with the tour on Wednesday and just spent another day looking around the city. There's 12 in our group, plus a tour guide and 2 trainee tour gruides, but as I'm doing a combination of tours, people will change at each capital city. But there are 4 people that will be with me until I get to Lima. Went to a barrio (suburb) called Palermo which is where all the trendy shops and cafes are. We went out for dinner that night which was lovely. Our tour guide then suggested we go to a bar where his friend worked out in the suburbs. We thought it was going to be quite close... 40 minutes later we finally arrived! So we were a bit narky when we got there but it was a really nice bar and we had a great time. Lots of the music was circa 2004 Ministry of Sound - Michael Grey etc, so I loved it, clearly!
We left BA last night around 7pm on a night bus and arrived in Bariloche today about 3pm! But the buses here are really nice - the seats go right back and have leg rests so you're basically lying down. And we got dinner, breakfast and lunch and movies. So it was like a business class flight! Bariloche is near the Chilean border, in the Lakes district of Argentina. Its actually on the shore of a beautiful lake, but I forget the name.. Also, it's really popular for skiing in the winter, and there's lots of european style houses and chalets.
Just got back from my first Argentinian steak dinner! I ordered half a portion, and it was twice the size of what I would normally have at home. Really nice with salad, chips and wine. The servings are huge though, we had one serve of chips between four and it came on a plate about a foot high!
Tomorrow, we're all going on an excursion into the mountains to see a black glacier.. bus trip then a 45 minute walk. So I'll get to try out my new walking shoes! We have Sunday here also and then leave monday at midday to go to Chile!
xx
