Another day on the ward today! and what a day it has been! Basically I do ward round with the docs on a monday wednesday and friday and then theatre days on Tuesday and Thursdays!

Today on ward round we saw some gruesome sites, I feel sorry for the patients here with flies swarming in and out of everywhere! People who should be in ICU have no help in hells chance here, they are basically left in a ward to die. End of! A guy had fallen from a height considerably high and had caused damage to his spinal cord. He had lost feeling in his lower limbs and had also sustained a head injury. Immediatley they would be on a spinal board with neck and collar brace too. But here this guy had a bad head injury convulsions and was throwing up blood. Due to the fact that he was laying down he was choking on his own vomit and basically died before we could help him! stupid nurses I say! they are so lazy here all they do is clean and stand around! thats why im with the docs! another guy had been attacked by a elephant and had sustained a injury caused by its trunk which had peierced right through one side of his body through to the other it was amazing he was still alive!

Majority of other cases that we see are fractures caused by motor cycle accidents, basically because they drive around like bloody lunatics, wound infections are very common and amputations aswell. A guy had his leg literally sworn off in theatre over the weekend and a serious infection had grown on it. You could smell it from the other ward, the guys leg will probably need amputatin further!

Birthday shannanigans this evening and tomorrow, candace and my birthday! i will wear my 21st t shirt! :-) konyagi ( the local drink) has become our friend, we spent the weekend eating well and lounging around the weather hasnt been all that brillaint!! xxxx
