Blimey it''s been hot today! We are already on our 4th and final full day in Morocco and we've seen and done as much as any family could fit in, in the heat! We spent Tuesday and yesterday on Tanger beach in the sun, sea and sand! Some may say you could enjoy the beach anywhere, but there aren't too many beaches in england where horses parade along the edge of the water and camels on the sand behind!
The sea is surprisingly colder than you would expect and it is beautifully calm.. right up until a ferry comes in to the nearby port creating some rather huge waves! All the local children run in when it gets wavey and me and our babies run out!!! Chickens maybe, but they literally knock you off your feet! Do you know what I like about Morocco, the beach is full of local families, some in traditional dress, even full burka's and some in western clothes, even slinky bikinis... but they play in the sea and sand together and respect each others choices! Just shows you can embrace any culture in so many ways!
We've eaten out since we arrived having late breakfasts and dinner simply because it is too cheap not to! We found a cafe called the sea rainbow along the seafront to eat our breakfasts and one of Aydin''s new brothers finds us a parking space each time! He even picked up a motorbike and moved it out of the way to make room for us the other day!
On Wednesday, we got back in the car and drove 2hrs away to Chefchaoen! An ancient city in the Rif mountains also know as the Blue Pearl! It should have taken 2hrs but we had to stop en route for Aydin to do his Super hero bit! A car had ploughed off the road and crashed into a ditch by a dual carriage way! Everyone stopped to help including us and thank goodness we did! A woman and her 17yr old daughter were trapped in the car and it was chaos... so many willing helpers but none knowing what to do! Unfortunately nobody understood first aider in Arabic so aydin had to shout out that he was a doctor! He instantly got everyone's attention, got them safely out of the car, checked them over and when the ambulance arrived... became the hero of the moment... he was smothered in kisses and hugs from the 2 women, all the lorry drivers and even the medic!
Phew, we went on our way and spent 2 or 3 hours in the city of Blue! It was a lovely place and a must to visit, however the high altitude made the heat even harder to cope with! This is how we imagined Morocco to be and we got to shop too!
Problem in a big city like Tanger is finding some where authentic to eat... so in order to get something the kiddies would like too we opted for Lebanese kebabs one night and Turkish (of sorts) another!
Today being our last day, we braved a taxi (an old American merc) into the Kasbah or Medina (the old walled city) Again, it was blooming hot and like stepping back in time, but it had to be done and the views of the sea and Tangier were spectacular! We came back by taxi and spent the afternoon cooling off and packing in the apartment!
We went out late afternoon, went back to our Sea Rainbow Restaurant for a real taste of Moroccan cuisine and then finished off our last evening on the beach with the boys having a camel ride! A real bucket list kind of moment.
Now I may add more detail at a later moment but right now, I am hot and tired! Nite nite Blog x

Heather You're your uncle's niece! What a fabulous account of your curate's egg adventure. I treasure all the journals Victor wrote during our many trips abroad. Make hard copies Mon. They are priceless!
Mon Thank you Heather, I want to capture everything I can, in words and pictures! I wish I could be even a little bit as good at writing as big uncle Victor!
