Bruised bottoms and cups of teaSo......Off I went into Adelaide to buy essentials, I have thrown out a lot of the tops that I brought with me from home as they were all smelly and becoming rather holey. Anyway.....I ended up buying two new pairs of jeans (it's freezing here and I have a backpack full of shorts and skirts) and two new tops. I also got a new 'duck' purse and a pair of purple ankle boots. I admit not really an essential but they were a steal at just 20quid. Returning to the hostel I thought I should book in for some culture and booked a three day tour to Kangaroo Island leaving the next morning. Bearing this in mind I got myself packed and all ready to go before settling down to catch up on Neighbours (which is another story-I'm not happy!) I got talking to an English couple and then somehow ended up being roped into the pool competition. Shocking as I am at pool I didn't even manage to pot one ball! Hey ho. We then all went out for just one drink to the 'Church'. It was 90s night and all drinks were 90c for one hour! That's only 40p for a beer! I had a great night dancing to all the classic oldies and a few fresh songs too. After the church we headed on to a place called Sugar. Not too long after I spotted some of our (rather large group) heading out the door. Thinking that they were heading home I ran out after them. I was wrong they were just going to another bar....ah well....I went too. We ended up in the same Irish bar I had gone to the night before. They had a live band which was really quite good so I ended up staying for a while. It then appeared to be only me and Greg left (everyone else had gone home) so we headed too, stopping for sushi as a homeward bound snack! I finally made it to my bed at around 1.30am not looking forward to getting up the next morning but surprisingly I felt fine!I was picked up and we headed straight down to the coastal town Middleton. The first agenda of the day was a surfing lesson. I had put of surfing whilst in Bali due to being scared but now was the time to seize the day. I loved it! I wasn't good at it but I really enjoyed it! I need to do it again soon! Maybe Sydney. We then stopped in Port Victor (I think) before catching the ferry to Kangaroo Island. We were staying in a private house hostel which was great. There was a living room and proper kitchen. It felt so homely! Next morning we were up early and headed out on a 9kn trek where I spent the entire three hours with my eyes peeled looking out for wildlife. Did I see anything. Nah! But what followed was more wildlife than you could shake a stick at! I saw wild Koalas, Kangaroos, Little Penguins, New Zealand Sea Lions, Australian Seals, Akindas and shed loads of birds of prey. Wicked! On the last day we went sand boarding down the sand dunes of little Sahara and visited the North coast of the island. I loved it! Although I found sand everywhere for the remainder of the day! lol. I also mounted a rather steep sand dune (Which didn't help the sand situation!) but was great fun, especially running down it after!!!!Back on the mainland I found out that 7 of the EOE crew had descended on Adelaide. I met up with them yesterday and cooked them all Bangers and Mash. It was a fine feast. It was nice to catch up on the truck goings on but made me feel uncertain about rejoining the group. However I think that I am going to force myself to join up in Melbourne for the last week. Everyone will be in high spirits and there should be a light hearted party mood. Plus I don't really want to be standing on the bridge waiting for them, I want to be on the truck driving over it! Hmmm...still not sure..lol. What a contrary mary I am!Tonight is Halloween and the hostel is having a BBQ and party. I'm planning to dress up as the girl from the Ring. Photos will follow! Oh and I'm booked on to tour the chocolate factory this afternoon. Can't wait!Lots of love Nicole xxx
