The sun will come out tomorrow
Where was I???? Back in Adelaide. Yes so the first morning that I was back Rachel and Will arrived both in need of a visit to the Dentist. Stuey, Pol, Punch, Nick and Christine were all already in Adelaide so we all got together that evening for a traditional meal of British Bangers and Mash (minus the HP sauce unfortunately) It was a nice evening and good to catch up with folk. Over the next few days I spent the remainder of my time in Adelaide visiting the Haighs Chocolate Factory (very nice chocolate), the South Australia Museum, Adelaide Aquatic Centre, Glenelg Beach, The Rodney Fox Shark experience and The Discovery Bay Centre. Quite a bit of culture for me! I managed some shopping too of course! On the Wednesday it was Halloween. The hostel did a free BBQ and I joined in the festivities dressing up as the Girl from the Ring/a Druid. About 15 of us dressed up (no other EOE folk did -bah humbug!) but we all had a fab night. The EOE guys headed out about 10pm but I stayed on at Backpack Oz for musical chairs and Karaoke before heading out at about 1am (Just as Punch and Stu were arriving home!) We headed for a place called HQ which was having a 'Time Warp' night so I danced my heart to the classics of yesteryear including B*witched C'est La Vie - Loved it!I was due to leave Adelaide on Friday night but my arm was twisted by Rachel an hour before I was due to catch my bus and o impulse I stayed another night. We headed out to the Church with everyone from the hostel. Unfortunately though Punch and Rach were both wearing sandals so we went for a few drinks at a pub before splitting off so that Will and I joined the others for a boogie. I'm so glad I stayed as I had a fab night. When I finally did board the bus the next night I was quite sad to leave Adelaide. There was far much more to do in Adelaide than I had expected and I had a fantastic stay at Backpack OZ meeting some great people whilst I was there. By far my favourite hostel so far!Arriving in Melbourne I was not initially impressed. It was cold and chucking it down. But a few hours in bed I was ready to open up a little more. I met Nitya and her boyfriend David for lunch and started to get excited about the Melbourne Cup. I headed out shopping the next day for accessories and the essential fascinator. All set for the cup I caught up with Rachel and Colleen who had arrived on Monday in time for the cup. It was quite an afternoon at the hostel, I played possibly the most intense card came of my life! Now I planned to get up nice and early for the cup have a shower all that. But in true Nicole style I slept through my alarm and was woken at 8.05am by Stuey knocking on my door. We were due at Nitya's at 8! After the quickest shower in my life whilst still managing to shave my legs and wash my hair we made it to Nitya's at 8.25am (After also going the wrong way - Nitya's fault not mine) and after a rushed job with make-up, straightness and scissors (I had to customise my broken sandals) and were even on time to meet everyone at 9am! Phew!We arrived at Flemington Park just at 10am and quickly found an excellent picnic spot close to the course and the finish line. I didn't bet on the first race but quickly decided that my betting should have a theme and that all riders should be purple! (To match my colour of the day!) And it worked! Well ok once but it was the big race so I was more than happy! The day was fantastic I had a great time with Nitya and all of her friends. I'm sure that Stuey had a wicked too, although he didn't win anything bless him. After the races we headed to Tom's house (A friend of Nitya's boyfriend David) and then went to a local pub for dinner. By 10.30pm I was popped and ready for bed. It had been a long day! I was to come back next year now! Up surprisingly early yesterday morning I headed to the Melbourne Museum. I figure I should do all the states museums that I visit. I also met both Rachel and Nitya for cake, I think I have a problem!Today I've visited St.Kilda beach and I'm booked on the Neighbours tour tomorrow. Ramsey street here I come! A little sad as I've just waved Rachel and Colleen off for the airport. I'm probably not going to see them again till we're all back in the land of blighty! Enjoy the rest of your travels girls!Lots of love Nicole xxx
