Golden wheel chairs are the future!
My final few days on Bali were great fun! But I had to bring myself back to the real world! I flew back to Singapore to stay for 2 nights before flying to Australia on the 11th October, we arrived at 2am on the first night and thankfully the hostel had made up our beds for us so we jumped straight in! Singapore was a great 'transit' city. I spent the day being a complete girl shopping and pampering myself. The Raffles shopping complex is so me darling! That evening we had 4 or 5 other 'truckers' returning from their breaks. Sos and I (after a dinner of sandwiches complete with salad cream!) sat out at the bar on the front of the hostel waiting for people to arrive. IT was really good to see everyone and I did scream a little when they popped up! Around midnight myself, Sos and Martin went with 7 lads from our dorm and Jo from another dorm (Sos and I were the only girls in our dorm, it did smell in the mornings I must say!) headed off to Clark Quay to visit some of the bars. First stop was a place called Clinic C, a hospital themed bar! We each had a golden wheel chair and sat at stainless steel tables! What a wicked idea for a bar. You can even get drinks our of IV drips!!! Next we moved on a place called Gotham Bar where unbeknown to us it was ladies night. Which meant that as well a free entry there was a male strip troupe on a 2am! Strangely enough the boys didn't run scared and actually enjoyed the performance lol! The night out was great fun, spontaneous and different that's for sure. The next day I spent chilling at the hostel before catching the EOE chartered plane to Darwin. It felt so surreal to only be taking a four hour flight and arriving in Australia! Australia! The other side of the world! Madness! Again it was the dead of night when we arrived and checked in to our hostel so I slept in the next day til 3pm! I was shattered! Darwin is a strange little city. The streets are big and wide and all of the street signs are just like in Neighbours. And everyone is white and Australian! Where did all the Asians go?! I'm glad to be here. Saturday night called for celebration as it was Martin's 22nd birthday. We all headed out on the town. With the Football and Rugby both on that night we ended up in a bar showing them. I didn't leave till the rugby was over a 6.30am! It was daylight outside and not quite ready to go home (plus far too excited about England being through to the final!) I went and got breakfast with Ricksy, Chris and Punchy....the final 4 survivors of the night! It is so hot here at the mo. A different sort of heat to Pakistan and India. Later this wheel I'm planning to do a 1 day tour of Litchfield park which has various waterfalls and termite mounds to pose next too , visit the Northern Territory museum and catch a viewing at the deckchair cinema! The truck has arrived here and is currently going through quarantine. But I have chosen not to get back on it. Inst ed I am going to travel from Darwin down to Melbourne independently. Hopefully by doing that I'll have an extra week during which I can nip up to Cairns and doing a bit of diving on the Great Barrier Reef. It'll also hopefully mean that I'll be in Melbourne for the Melbourne Cup, a big horse race that stops the nation! I'm then going to hopefully rejoin the truck in Melbourne for the last few days travelling along the Great Ocean Road to Sydney. I'm dead excited about the changes that I have made and doing things solo! I've already booked my flight to Alice Springs and a 2day tour out to Aryes Rock. Adelaide also looks great as well. Then hopefully I'll catch up with Rachel and Colleen in Melbourne. Grand!I will do my best to update more regularly from now on as I'll be doing a lot!Lots of love Nicole xxxP.s I now have a Australian mobile which makes contact with England a lot cheaper, tis also free for me to receive international calls.
