Wine rain and more rain
I've been taking it very slowly the last week or so. For the remainder of my time in Queenstown I enjoyed the sunshine. I rode the Gondola up to the top of one of the surrounding mountains to get postcard views and had a few goes on the luge at the top (like a toboggan ride) oh and I went in search of Patrick's old school and found it! I met up with a group of nice folk in my hostel and had a big night out with them before going on a wine tour on my last day. We went to four wineries and I must have tasted at least 20 different wines! When you are tasting them in that quick concession you really notice the slight differences between them all! I'm in love with the Sauvignon Blanc here! It's a shame that my backpack is already so full! I did think about sending home a crate! After resisting the temptation to stay another day in Queenstown (One of the lads was even trying to convince me there is airport strikes on the 19th but it's fine on the 20th and so should stay!) I headed to Fox Glaciers on the very sleepy eyed 7am bus! And it started to rain and it's not stopped! Now considering that it's the rain forest it can be forgiven but it was so bad that all of the helicopter flights up to the glacier were cancelled! Leaving me nothing to do! I helped out at the hostel changing the beds and hoovering. A nice little workout and meant that I got my bed for free that night. Whoop! Next day the weather was no better so I moved on to Hokitikia a wee town that seems to live off tourists coming along rain or shine and perusing the numerous craft shops. I love wandering round them! So I leave here today and head to Christchurch, not bad train sadly at more than doubly the price of the bus and with rubbish views due to the weather I decided against it. I gonna spend tonight in Christchurch and then either do a day trip to Hamner Springs or nip up there for a night and relax in the thermal pools! Will hopefully see a few of the guys that I met in Queenstown in Christchurch so I might a a finally knees up before heading home. Just 5 sleeps to go now! love from Nicole xxx
