Thailand and beyond
I'm becoming a little lax at this blogging it seems! So I'll do my best to bring you all up to date.
So Thailand....I loved it! I ended up staying in Bangkok an extra day more than the truck by taking a taxi to the boarder. The road was terrible. An absolute state! There was pots holes everywhere and no tarmac in sight! I'm glad I opted for the air-con taxi as even that was a bumpy ride! And then the truck broke down so they were delayed even more not just by the terrible road.
I spent 5 nights in Bangkok and had a fantastic time. I visited the reclining Buddha, a 70ft golden Buddha! Fairly impressive! And had a cosmopolitan on-top of the city at the Vertigo bar 50 floors up! I also got to celebrate my birthday in true Bangkok style on the traveller's mecca Khao San Road. A wicked night!
Next I split from the truck and moved on to Koh Tao, a small a beautiful tropical island on the east coast of Thailand (the side that was not hit by the tsunami.) I really loved Koh Tao and didn't want to leave when the truck left Koh Samui. So I didn't. I enrolled in an Open Water Diver course at Big Blue Diving Resort and stayed for another six days. I loved diving and can not wait to get back in the the water I plan to this week in Bali! I also got the opportunity to meet new people and hear about their travel plans. Although some how going from London to Sydney on a bus seems to trump them all! I loved the laid back atmosphere on Koh Tao. There was lovely little bars right on the beach where you could just relax and chill out and also bars with music to dance in. I only left because Stuey forced me to go to KL! (Stuey had also stayed on the island to do some more diving but was staying on the south on the island.)
Next I met up with the truck in KL. A massive cosmopolitan metropolis! Full of shopping centres and skyscrapers! We had a couple of days here before heading south towards Singapore. Yesterday we cleaned the truck, a massive task! I cam away with 2blisters, a rash across my chest and a stonking headache! A job well done by team EOE me thinks!
I'm sorry to be fairly short but I'm too excited about getting to Singapore tonight and Bali tomorrow! Beach here I come!!!!
Lots of love Nicole xxxxx
P.s I can not believe that I have been away for so long and the trip is only 7 weeks from the end! Crazy!
