Hello everyone!
It's hard to believe I've been in Sri Lanka for just a week! I've had the most amazing time so far!
On Friday, we took a long journey to a hotel in a jungle. That night we just relaxed and got to know each other.
On Saturday, we woke up bright and early to go WHITE WATER RAFTING! It was awesome. We tackled some huge rapids on the rafts, then were able to jump off the boats and float idly along.
After lunch, we were taken for a 45 minute walk through the jungle, where we faced some steep paths and close-set trees. To get to the confidence jump, we had to walk across a 10cm wide dam across a river. Lien and I really didn't want to walk on the dam for fear of falling in, so we were both taken into the river to cross it....I thought it was shallow. But no. The water went up to our armpits! Better than falling in though!
We reached the confidence jump area (which was really a waterfall). First, we were told to jump off a small rock into a small pool...everyone jumped/dived/cannon balled in...I did this huuuumongous bellyflop....everyone winced. How embarrassing!
We then had to go down a rocky slide into a pool. Then we had two more jumps, the last one being 20ft high!
Today, Samuel and I were taken to our school placement in badulla. And WOW, what a welcome! The school held a huge ceremony to welcome just me and Samuel! I had to try and stop myself from crying several times!
The weather in badulla is really rainy at the mo...apparently they only have a little sun - but it's still warm! And Samuel and I have a pretty awesome homestay!
That's all for now. Sorry I've waffled on a bit! Miss all of you xxxxxxx

Sharon Really enjoying reading about how it's all going sounds so amazing. The performance for Frances at the Arc went really well but we missed you. We have training at Orbit tonight so I'll pass your news on to the other volunteers. Looking forward to reading more of your adventures.
