And so it's the final part of our Spaceship tour of Australia...the drive up to Cairns. We can't believe just how many km's we've done over the past 7 weeks, it's about 8000 miles! Despite the unsettled way of life and very cosy sleeping quarters we wouldn't change a thing about our 2months in Oz. We have been able to see so many places that wouldn't have been possible if we'd travelled any other way. We have seen so much wildlife too which has been great...apart from the possums the other night that were trying to intimidate us while we ate our dinner. It worked though, we ended up having to eat in the car, sweating like you wouldn't believe!
We spent our last night in the Spaceship last night and agreed we were a little sad to say goodbye to it earlier when we dropped it off. We've checked into a hostel for the next two nights, looking forward to sleeping in a proper bed. Since being in Cairns we have been told that swimming round the Whitsundays is not actually the Great Barrier Reef and so we've booked to do another day trip tomorrow!
And then, after 10 months of spending every day together (apart from when I nipped home for Em's wedding) Jen and I are temporarily splitting up! While we were in Asia, Thailand particularly, Jen became really interested in Buddhism and has arranged to spend 5 days at a retreat near Sydney. I've decided it's time to head to New Zealand and will get there early on Sunday morning. Ed & Mike are both over there somewhere so I may get to meet up with them.
We both can't believe just how quickly the trip is going, we'll be back home boring you with even more photos before you know it!
