Hmmm, I think the temperature in Dunedin was actually colder than England! I wouldn't mind, after all it's good to experience different seasons, but layering up with bikinis, shorts and vest tops doesn't give you much warmth...any excuse to go shopping hey?!
I spent a few days here, mainly to do a wildlife tour and to board the Taieri Gorge train. The wildlife tour was brilliant. It didn't look like it was going to be because it was really wet and cold BUT I met possibly the funniest woman in the world; 49 yr old Kay from Auckland. She made me laugh from start to finish, especially when she informed me she had literally wet herself from laughing so much... We had to walk up some very big hills but got to see seals, sea lions and yellow eyed penguins, and with Kay's commentary, it was definitely worth it.
I'm not big into trains but I was actually really excited about the journey from Dunedin to Pukerangi. It was quite scary in places being so high up and on the edge of mountains but the scenery was amazing; the photos don't do it justice at all. From Pukerangi I got a 5 hour coach to Queenstown. The bus driver was a bit of a character and kept us entertained throughout the journey, mainly at my expense...the last time I choose to sit at the front of the bus!
