It was another fine day dawned in Venice with sunshine all round, and after a sleep-in after the utter exhaustion of yesterday, we decided to have a relatively slow day today. As we each had different items remaining on our 'must see' lists, JJ and I set off in different directions, with an agreed time to meet later in the day.
My first agenda item was to sort out our transport to the airport tomorrow. This was solved pretty quickly when I found out that we could get a public transport boat - Antigula - which would take us from the nearby Rialto bridge stop to the airport, from where it was a short walk to the international airport.
That sorted, I hopped on the waterborne transport back to where we entered the city on a different route, near the main railway station. After experiencing the huge crowds in and out of the station for a bit I mapped out a walking route that would take me to a less mainstream area that I had not ventured into, including the Jewish area, that included a beautiful square and many men dressed in very traditional Jewish attire with traditional beards and hairstyles.
While in this very quiet area I stopped several times to watch locals going about their business, and generally wandered slowly till I found myself back on a major street where I was pleased to see a McDonalds and take advantage of their facilities.
I then caught up with JJ (after getting lost again), did some last minute shopping and enjoyed some local drinks and nibbles in the bar on the other side of our local square. Then later in the day we went on to our last Italian dinner for now, did a preliminary bag pack and headed for bed.
