Last night we had a nice dinner and then went out on deck to watch the sunset from comfy lounge chairs. It was cloudy but very nice anyway. Then we went to the Solstice Theatre to see the tribute to Broadway. It was real good with songs from:Gypsy; West Side Story; Rent; Miss Saigon; Carousel; and, My Fair Lady. And Margaritas were on special for $5!
We had to get up early this morning in order to be on the pier here in Costa Maya by 8:15.The huge pier here is privately owned. There is a façade of a town by the pier, but only a few shops and no real town. This area was devastated by recent hurricanes.
We boarded a bus and rode an hour to the Chacchoben Mayan ruins. It was terribly hot and humid and buggy. We were covered in suntan lotion with a top coat of OFF.We were so happy to get back to the ship to eat and shower. Our tour guide does wood working, so we bought a $5 coconut ornament he made to add to our Christmas collection. While at the ruins, we saw some interesting hanging bird nests. There were also chicle trees and purple aloe.
Tomorrow: Honduras!
