Friday, June 4, we flew from, ATL to FLL. Then we rented a car and drove down to Key West. They are breaking all kinds of heat records down there. It was too hot and muggy to breathe even at 8 o'clock in the morning! It was especially bad for me since I have a terrible head cold : (
Saturday morning we headed north to Miami. Ken took me to see the house where he used to live and the Biology building where he used to teach and do research at The University of Miami. Then we drove through South Beach before heading to Fort Lauderdale.
We stayed at a nice La Quinta and had dinner at a GREAT place called 'Sweet Tomatoes'. It is a HEALTHY buffet - all fresh salads and veggies and homemade soups. There was LOTS of vegetarian food for me.
We are about to pack up to head to the FLL airport so we can be picked up by the Celebrity Cruise folk. We are excited about finally boarding the ship for the cruise we have been dreaming about for many months.

kathy Have a great time!!! Jenny, I forgot to tell you how great you looked at the wedding and the "mom" photos at the signin book were lovely. Kathy (and Jon and the boys!)
Jackie Bon Voyage!!! I love the title of Sweet Tomatoes. What's next. Keep us posted!!
Jackie Jenkins Where's the messages?? I want to go on the honeymoon!!!!!!!!!
Maggie HERE IS AN EMAIL FROM MY MOM: Hi Everyone! We are at sea all day today. We have the NICEST room: Huge bed with sumptuous linens; sofa; desk; bathroom with HUGE thick towels; bathrobes; private veranda. In fact, I'm writing this from our veranda. The food is FABULOUS! Ken says he gets weak from hunger if we go more than about an hour without a meal!!! This morning we had breakfast I, breakfast II, brunch, and then lunch. We also had a reception for honeymooners and got cake and champagne. The sunset last evening from our veranda was amazing. We have posted a few pics on our travel site... www.offexploring.com/JennyandKen The problem is that they charge us a million dollars per minute for internet usage, and it takes about 20 min to upload the pics. You won't believe this: last night at our restaurant, they had creme brulee!!! They have a gazillion bars on board, but one is a martini bar and the whole bar is ice! The bartenders do cool tricks while making the drinks and pouring them. Tonight is a formal dinner and the Captain's champagne reception. There is a REAL lawn up on the top deck. They had a bocce ball tournament this morning. They also have croquet area and a putting green. There is also a basketball court. They DID have two nice pools, but this morning some stupid parent let their un-toilet trained kid in there and he pooped. They had to take the boat way out of the shipping channel and dump the pool. So we have had no pool all day. : ( I hope they put them all out to sea on a lifeboat with no water. There is a wonderful solarium with plants and comfy chairs. In the spa area, there is a Persian Relaxation room. It has formed, heated lounge chairs and a steam room and an herbal sauna and then tropical and spring rain 'showers' - really decadent! There are lots of nooks and crannies, and it will take us all week to explore everything. Love ya, Jenny/Mom
Jackie Thanks Maggie - I love hearing from them (through you). Keep us posted. Love Jackie
chris enough food for you Ken? ;) sounds like an awesome time...especially the poo part. maybe I need to get married and have one of those things (the honeymoon not the poo).
Maggie Maggie, Thanks for doing that. Post this one, too! We are really having internet and travel blog difficulties... I bought Ryan a great 'prize' in Grand Cayman. We are in Cozumel today. We went on the BEST snorkeling trip EVER!!! We were on a huge catamaran and the water here is crystal clear. We snorkeled for about 45 minutes and saw so much - not only beautiful tropical fish, but the most beautiful and colorful corals I have ever seen. We also saw some barracudas. Then the crew served free drinks and took us to a private beach with all sorts of fun water equipment: huge water slides and trampolines, sea kayaks, floats, beach with a gazillion lounge chairs, hammocks for two in the shade, and even huge beds under thatched roofs! The drinks were all free. Then on the ride back to the ship, they played great music and we danced. We even did the Macarena! That was a blast from the past... Our ship's crew members are from all over the world. When we are unsure of a country's location, we go to the giant globe on the ship, and make sure we know where it is. Then back to the ship for more eating. We leave here at 6 tonight. Tomorrow: the Mayan Ruins tour.
