I know I know I said the last blog would be the final entry from oz, but it was going to be sooooo long I thought you would all get bored, so I split it and thought I would write the final day in this one. Get over it.
So today I had to say goodbye to anna and Maddy. Twice. The first time was before we all left for our respective cape tribulation day tours (they were staying over night, me and Alice were just doing the day version) and the second was half way through the tour when we figured out we were doing exactly the same stuff as each other up to the point when we got the place they were staying. But still, very sad times to be parting with the remains of my original ozzy family :(
The day trip me and Alice were doing basically consisted of a rainforest walk, some time at the actual cape tribulation, a chance to wonder around port Douglas, and a gorge. Not really sure why the gorge was stuck in there but there ya go! The main entertainment for the say as far as we were concerned however were all the twisty trees to hide in and all the furry turd looking things on the forest floor that led us to three main conclusions. One - we had basically paid money to mock nature in very immature ways. Two - cape tribulation is really not that great of a place (bad times for anna and Maddy staying overnight there!), but port Douglas is really nice, and Three - we both have way to many pictures of rocks and trees. We also decided after looking at these pictures that it was a particulaly bad face day for Alice (even her simplest smile had a nice retarded twinge to it) not helped at all by her spazzy hands, in addition to her facial issues, carrying on in thier beautiful spazalicious way. It was however a really good day and I thoroughly enjoyed myself, well as much as one can once you've realised how much money you paid to look aunt trees all day - but yeah it was a fun day out :p
The evening was our last in cairns and we had it planned out to a T. When we got back we would do our washing, have dinner, I would take up my trouser legs using rudimentary tools at my disposal (my god what a botch job that was!) and Alice would cut my fringe for me before we both packed all our crap into the smallest space possible - obviously this included ditching all the useless s*** we had aquired over the last month, it actually made a pretty big pile on the floor for the next residents to pick and choose from! One mans trash and all...
Next on the list was to waste time until we had to leave at 4am for the airport. Sleep? Naaa. Go see prince of Persia at the cinema and watch jake gyllenhal prance about topless for two hours? Hell yeah! I do have one complaint however - oz cinemas don't do sweet popcorn! They have salted but that's it!! WTF! Our final act of the night was to say goodbye to our cowboy hats that we had carefully (and in some cases unlawfully) aquired over our time in oz and preserved tied to the back of our bags through thick and thin, bus after bus, rain or shine. However we both new they wernt going to survive the flight or infact our next destinations, so it was time to let go. It was sad, it was tearful and it felt almost as bad as ditching my sleeping bag in Sydney. But such is the way of life and travelling. Goodbye dear friends, we hope you find good heads of hair to rest on in your end of days.
