G'day folks from the island of magneticness! That's mAgnetic island by the way, incase you didn't get it, and no it's not actually magnetic, it's just, I dunno its called magnetic island - deal with it.
Anywaaayyyy, Friday morning brought about another joy of joys - a hangover. Shock. And what is my faveourite activity to do when I am hung over? Why travel on a bus all day that's what! And as if that wasn't enough fun, I got to go on a freezing cold rocky ferry trip as well... Life is treating me well :p so we got to the islan early afternoon and settled in to our new base hostel for the next few days, the rooms were same as usual and the facilities were nice enough - but the view, wow. I mean wow. It was like being on a tropical island just looking out to sea, infactthe whole place had a really nice island charm to it and I have only just realised, thinking back, how utterly peaceful it was there :) the sunset especially was beautiful, falling over the water with all the reds and pinks melting into each other whilst I sat there with a cold drink with good friends and a free first night dinner. Yes magnetic island, yes I like that very much.
Now that alice was back with us and our new friend Ellie had arrived too, the whole dorm room was dedicated to our little ozzy family we had created, and one thing I have learnt is that us all in a room together with the squeakiest beds known to man can only equal one thing - silly silly girly giggly silliness... And that night was no exception :p adding in to this equation a large selection of random dressin up stuff found in peoples bags and I think you can tell where I'm going with this - and just for the record, I can totally pull off long red silk gloves and massive red plastic sunglasses. Serious, I looked good :p.
The next day I decided to be a very good girl and go to the doctor about my leg. Basically you remember when I was I kroombit cattle ranch and fell over the log? Then you remember when i went snorkelling in the reef on my whitsundays trip? Yeah, those two don't go very well together! In fact apparently the water in the great barrier reef is one of the only areas of ocean that instead of cleaning your wound, will infect it with lots of coral and fishy goodness, no I didn't know either! Learn something new every day huh! So yeah it was all pus filled and pretty like that so I thought I should have it checked! So whilst the rest of the girls hired out a pink barbie car for the day and hunted down the nearest boy racers, me and alice walked to the town so see doctor 'oh your a backpacker?! Oh in that case here is a plaster and you'll be fine' - apparently according to thier expert opinion I need to put a plaster on it and it will be fine in a few days :p on the way back we reminised about Thailand and the way things were... Times like when I told her I was going to vomm on her face, or when I asked her if she had her purse and shoes before locking the door and after 4 seconds of walking down the path she turns and says 'oops I forgot my purse... And my shoes' - god it's good to have that girl back! I didn't realise just how much I had missed her, but when we walked into the supermarket to grab food for the next couple days and she suggested buying an entire rotisserie chicken just for our lunch, I knew we would be friends for life! I had been askig the girls for rotisserie chicken for weeks but they said it wasn't worth it, OH it was worth it! We eventually got back to the hostel and made ourselves lunch in the sun, and then, just becuase she could, Alice stole a cowboy hat. It was one of those has from kroombit so there was not reason for the guy at reception to think it wasn't hers when she pointed it out in the lost and found, and it had been sitting there all day but what I can't abide by was that she said it was MINE!!! So I then had to join in this charade of shame and pipe up to agree! In the end however she walked away cowboy hat in hand and cursed by karma, which I reminded here, was a b****! Still, I've never seen someone so happy with a hat! It was like a small kid with a cardboard box at Christmas! I mean sure someone was out ther crying and hatless, but we're backpackers! Finders keepers, and if you had the nerve to blag it from someone in charge then you deserve it! It's the way of the world children, and it's what toby would have done - and that's all that matters :p later that night after another beautiful sunset and a nice slap up meal it was time to make ourselves pretty for ladies night at the bar! Free champagne till 10 and a love board set up so you can write messages to anyone you like that you see around the bar (we each had a number) - what more could you want! OBVIOUSLY we wrote stupid stuff to each other, it had to be done! And to be honest, I do want sophies babies and if I was 18 I would certainly look up anna :p so really, the love board is just a terrific invention :p
Sunday has come around my dear friends and it is our final day here on the island. So far today I have pissed about on the Internet, read some more of twilight (so trashy but I love it!) and chilled out in the sun, so really a very busy day! The best part however was when I gave the guy at reception a fifty and asked for ten dollars to be put on my global gossip Internet card, and instead of giving me $40 back, he gave me $80 without realising it! Screw you Base hostel, you just paid for my drinks tonight! Can't understand though why no one else seemed that happy for me? I mean it's not like this sort of thing happens quite a bit to me :p you know I never get double key deposits back by accident of anything :p
So there I will leave you until cairns tomorrow, with a nice profit my pocket and a cocktail in my hand :)
