Christ I'm in a church!! Get it? Because I'm in christchurch... Ok shut up there's only a few more of these terrible jokes to put up with! Anyway, greetings from Christchurch, a town of many illusive wonders, so illusive that I infact can't find them. This town is crap. I kind of assumed it would be like the christchurch in Bournemouth, full of majestic old buildings and lots of beer gardens - but it's not.
My day started with another awful goodbye, my new Zealand family, who, through thick and thin have been by my side but alas cannot follow me where I am going, well, not all at the same time anyway. Dave followed me atleast, but still, a very sad time for me :( and to make matters worse, kane was our bus driver again!! Kane! Of all the bus drivers kiwi experience has, why must he always be violating my sheer existance with his atrociously annoying driving skills?! So not impressed.
The good thing about kane however (and one of the only ones) is that he tends to stop at random pretty places for breaks, and wow he can sure pick them! We stopped by this lake and the whole backdrop to it was just perfect snow topper mountains with the sun streaming through them, sparkling onto the water - I swear it was like something from the Truman show, not even real! It was sublimly beautiful :) it's a pity though that I'm only just starting to appriciate this beautiful country properly, just as I'm about to leave it. Still, I got some wonderful shots of that landscape and I will definitly not be forgetting it any time soon :)
We got to Christchurch fairly late evening, wondered down to the supermarket for food and then kind of did our own things for the rest of the night; dave had a very early start the next day and I was staying longer anyway so really we did our goodbyes in the evening , short and sweet. Sunday really was a nothingy day, I walked around in the rain for a while ad it turns out christchurch is actually a lot like Cambridge in many ways, nice, but im glad I was leaving the next day :p
However. As it turned out I didn't leave the next day. For reasons that this blog shall for once not be privy to, I missed my bus. The first bus I have EVER missed on my journey, and it had to be in bloody Christchurch didn't it! Anyway basically I set my alarm but then cleverly turned my phone off so slept in and annoyingly woke up 10 minutes after it left! So Monday was just a disaster after that. It rained all day and my journal entry for that day simply states that I 'floated around' - very accurate if I do say so myself. So really that's about it for Christchurch, rain, a nice little town, and another chance to read wonderfully creative penis jokes etched into the bunk beds... Just wonderful :p let's see if I manage to catch the bus tomorrow!
